Am Hausberg der Salzburger, dem Gaisberg, fand am Freitag die 9. Afrikanische Rodelweltmeisterschaft statt.
Trotz wenig Schnee hatten die Teilnehmer viel Spaß dabei.

Der Österreicher und Sportbotschafter Franz Müller kam zu der Veranstaltung und zeigte wie er Bratpfannen zusammenrollen kann.
Die Veranstaltung findet jedes Jahr statt und wird vom Verein „Sport spricht alle Sprachen“ organisiert.
Große Unterstützung für die TeilnehmerInnen kam von Franz Müllner, Extrem Kraft-/ Ausdauersportler aus Salzburg (The Austrian Rock) und 39 facher Guinness World Record Halter. Der heutige Sieger war Mohamed Abdisala aus Somalia und Siegerin Alisha Mweni aus Kenia. Gefahren wurde, nach dem Föhnsturm am Tag davor, auf verkürzter Strecke am Gaisbergspitz, in zwei Durchgängen. Der Sieger Mohamed ist ein Flüchtling aus Somalia, er startet für das Team Rotes Kreuz. Die Siegerin Alisha ist beim Sponsor Win Win Salzburg tätig.

Abdou Refany aus Wien ist „so glücklich, einmal Rodeln erlebt zu haben, ich komme das nächste Mal mit meiner Tochter!“
Herbert Neureiter vom Roten Kreuz sagt, seine Rodel-Neulinge sind alle happy, sie haben „eine völlig neue Welt gesehen,“ und fühlen sich gerade „wie im Fernsehen“. Weil es in Somalia kein Wort für „Rodel“ gibt, sagen die domalischen Rodler „Car“ dazu. (Was noch schneller klingt.)
Im Anschluss an das Rennen gabs dann Hüttengaudi, regelkonform vor der Hütte, die Wiener Karim Humana-Band jammt als „Voice of Africa“. Wie immer als Stimmungsmacher vorn dabei, der singende Busfahrer Sally Goldenboy.
